G€¢LOOMIS - OLD Rods

G•Loomis has long been an iconic name among the fishing fraternity, synonymous with quality fishing rods that are light weight, responsive and have an action like no other rod on the market. G•Loomis rods are carefully crafted tools, designed specifically for a chosen style, purpose or species. Ideally suited to the kiwi angler targeting South Island salmon, trophy trout and hard fighting in shore saltwater species such as snapper, kahawai and kingfish on lures and on fly.

NRX TROUT FLY RODS:

NRX is the culmination of what we have been doing at G.Loomis since day one. We have been continually striving to build the best rod on the planet. Laminates, resin, mandrels, components and the know how you expect from us. These NRX rods look like nothing we have built before. They feel better than anything we have built before. We aren't talking about a little better here or a little lighter there...

What we are saying so there is no confusion... " This is the Best Fly Rod Ever Built!" Period!!

GLX MAX TROUT FLY RODS:
A special family of high performance, extra-stiff, 9-foot, 4-piece GLX fly rods designed for demanding situations where distance and accuracy are essential to catch fish. These rods are great for long-line nymphing with split shot and a strike indicator. When the wind makes it all but impossible to cast a fly, this is the rod you want in your hands. It keeps you in control no matter how tough the conditions. Anglers, as well as their guides, will really appreciate the precise casts these rods will make when success is measured by your ability to hit a small pocket, only inches from the bank with one false cast from 50 or 60 feet, then pick up the entire line and punch it back out there to the next spot. It's a method used on a lot of big trout water. These rods are designed for aggressive casting, but because of the light tip, still have a nice feel for casting in close. They are not all-purpose rods, but then if you're one of those flyfishers looking for more horsepower, you've found them!
NR GLX TROUT and SALMON FLY RODS:
It's the preparation - the pursuit - the prize that makes flyfishing for steelhead and salmon so totally consuming. Whether you're skating dries on big water for those super-aggressive summer steelies or probing the depths of a deep green Northwest river in early November for a big chromer King, it's that sudden rush that overwhelms you when the fly stops. It's all about long days on the river. It's long fly rods and long casts, hooking big, powerful fish that make quick, nerve-shattering runs. It's about fireside stories and comparing your day with that of your friend's. More importantly, it's sharing our passion for flyfishing along with an intimate understanding of what anglers expect in a fly rod that makes the creation of our Native Run Series even more satisfying. These rods are made to handle big water, big flies and big fish. They're powerful, smooth casting and beautiful to look at, not to mention how well they fish! They have graceful tapers creating fast actions that allow you to fish all types of lines effectively. They range from 9- to 10-feet in length and handle 7- to 9-weight fly lines. They give you positive line control for technical mending, managing indicators and punching out those long casts. Our proprietary GLX performance makes them unbelievably sensitive, but the sheer lack of overall weight is what makes them a pleasure to fish all day. All you need to do is focus, keep casting and be ready. When the strike finally comes, you'll be glad you've got a GLX Native Run fly rod in your hand. It handles the fish so well you can concentrate on the fun stuff - like not banging your knuckles with those whirling reel handles. These 4-piece rods all come with a soft, protective rod sock and travel tube. Get your camera ready!!

CC GLX SALTWATER FLY RODS:
Saltwater flyfishing is highly dependent on bait, cover, current and tides. Where currents cross - creating rips, seams and turbulence - is the playground for saltwater anglers. It's where the baitfish find sanctuary and the game fish come to dine. It's where the depth changes on an otherwise boring flat that hides a big snook as he waits for unsuspecting prey. It's how we look at the world of saltwater fly fishing and it's what CrossCurrent is all about! It's the culmination of hours of research... on the water and in the factory, creating rods with incredible lifting power and fast tapers that help you make tight, aerodynamic loops so you can punch out unbelievably long cast after long cast, even in a stiff breeze. It's the beautiful appointments we've added to these rods to make them as enjoyable to look at as they are to fish. It's the light weight, the power and the castability that makes our CrossCurrent Series the most dynamic, most popular saltwater fly rods in the universe. There are seven rods in the CrossCurrent GLX family, all 4-piece travel rods, featuring Recoil (nickel-titanium) guides and anodized aluminum reel seats with our "yin yang" cutouts exposing a graphite insert with G.Loomis' iconic Skeleton Fish logo. Each rod comes in a soft, protective rod sock and travel case.

EASTFORK TROUT FLY RODS:
EastFork fly rods are made with a unique blend of extra high modulus graphite materials to create a slim diameter, slender profile blank that is capable of punching long casts out there with a lot of line speed. The fast taper and stiff power design helps the anglers carve out tight, aerodynamic loops for excellent line control under all conditions. The rods are a beautiful, rich cabernet red with our custom-machined "yin-yang" bronze anodized reel seat that features a very stylish "burl" cork insert with the G.Loomis Skeleton Fish logo branded right into the cork. The rods are 3- and 4-piece, depending on the length and come in a soft, protective rod sock and travel case. The EastFork fly rods offer not only great looks, but match up nicely with the EastFork fly reels. These rods are a nice blend of performance and high tech design with less extravagant componenty to keep them at a mid-level price point. A real value for such a beautifully designed fly rod.
PRO-4x TROUT FLY RODS:
We took a page from our NRX blank technology to develop a new series of fly rods that "new-to-the-sport" and intermediate flyfishers will learn to appreciate and expert anglers will wonder how this much performance gets packed into such an affordable package. A new taper design along with a noticeable weight-reduction in the upper half of the blank allows us to make a fly rod that is incredibly light, recovers quickly and casts with unbelievable precision. It's the G.Loomis way... reduce as much weight as possible, take total advantage of the materials and create a taper that is dynamic, efficient and user-friendly. They are as beautiful to look at as they are to cast. A rod any flyfisher would be proud to own!!

PGR SPIN:
The Pro Green Series is a special set of inshore saltwater rods created for anglers that prefer to fish small jigs, soft plastics and any number of artificial baits, including topwaters for myriad saltwater species on the flats. A great choice for blues and stripers along the Atlantic Coast as well as redfish, seatrout, permit, bonefish, snook and small tarpon in Florida and all along the Gulf coast, these rods offer a unique blend of power, light weight and sensitivity. There are four power-ratings and three different rods lengths offered to cover a variety of water depths and conditions. They aren't meant to replace the softer, more delicate action of the popping rod, but offer the anglers an option for aggressively fishing artificials and using the new super braids like Power Pro. The faster actions of the Pro Green Series give wading and boat anglers, alike, more positive line and lure control. Designed to create quick, accurate “snap casts” to visible targets or long prospecting casts where covering water is more important, these rods have powerful butt-sections to move big fish. The casting rods - new for 2010 - have short rear grips to opimize casting performance as well as line and lure control. No more handles getting in the way or poking you in the ribs! These rods are exceptionally light! You'll feel as energized when you're finished for the day as you were when you started.

IMX and GL3 SPIN:
Ultra-lite fishing is a heck of a lot of fun. Techniques vary from small jigs or bait to micro-sized crankbaits and tiny spinners. Matching rods to such a variety of uses is a challenge, but not impossible. Our Classic trout and panfish (SR) rods are designed primarily for small freshwater species, but as anglers will, they've discovered a multitude of different applications for these light-duty rods including bass fishing with small lures and soft plastics, shad fishing with darts and tiny jigs, bonefish and seatrout fishing on the flats with small grubs and jigs. The rods we've put into this series have moderate to fast tapers with ultra-light to medium power ratings. They are designed to protect light line, but don't let that fool you. They are remarkably strong and can handle surprisingly big fish. We offer a number of options in levels of graphite performance, length, powers and actions. Some anglers prefer a short rod while others prefer a longer rod, depending on the technique. It all depends on what you look for in a light-duty spinning rod. Whatever your choice, we're confident we've got all the bases covered... ENJOY!

GLX and GL3 CAST:
These are the rods that started it all for G.Loomis in the bass fishing world. Based on levels of performance, these rods remain on the cutting edge of graphite technology today. They are no-nonsense, no frills, high performance fishing tools. Fuji reel seats, cork grips and the best guides available to give anglers the lightest, most sensitive rods in the business. There are three levels of graphite performance available in the most popular models, GLX and GLX. These are 6'6" and 7' casting rods, originally developed for longer casts applications. The term MAG came from their magnum tapers that generate a lot of power and provide excellent fish-fighting capability. Longer rear-cork grips help provide leverage and balance. They are excellent for pitching or overhand casting and are unbelievably strong for such light weight rods. These rods were originally designed to fish for bass, but as anglers will experiment many have found them to be excellent for walleye, pike, freshwater stripers, redfish and snook - a testament to their light weight and sensitivity, not to mention unbelievable power. You will be amazed at the versatility of these rods!

CBR CAST:
For years, manufacturers have pushed fiberglass rods for crankbaits, claiming graphite rods are too stiff and react too fast to effectively fish a crankbait. That's a fair statement because fiberglass is softer and much slower reacting. Our philosophy is, why not use the dynamic features of graphite (sensitivity, extreme light weight, faster recovery, etc.) to make a really good, responsive crankbait rod. Material is only one part of the formula, but in the case of our crankbait rods, design is the most important aspect. Our unique "fiber-blend" technology allows us to create cranking rods with all of the advantages of graphite in addition to a nice soft action that's a lot lighter than its fiberglass counterpart and far less tiring to cast over the course of a day. Additionally, they are much more sensitive, which gives you a huge advantage and you get a rod that will react quick enough to help keep the line tight when a fish makes a sudden, unexpected move. The bottom line is more fish in the boat, with less effort.
