In time for the kiwi game fishing season Shimano Fishing New Zealand is excited to be able to offer the NEW Shimano Talica 50II - this reel is the bench mark in overhead reel technology and is a game changer for kiwi anglers looking to “down size” their game fishing tackle and take full advantage of a more ergonomic way to fish for New Zealand's XOS kingfish, bass and striped marlin. Whether it is soaking baits over deep reefs, deploying live baits or trolling lures in the deep blue waters around our coast the Shimano Talica 50II makes light work of it especially when combined with the NEW Shimano Ocea range of off-shore rods and Power Pro braided lines.

The Shimano Talica reel is built on solid engineering principles that puts this reel in a league of it's own. The Talica is available in 11 models both in single speed (8, 10, 12 and 16) and two speed (8II, 10II, 12II, 16II, 20II, 25II and 50II) options providing a wider range of applications across this family - from straight out lure fishing, live baiting, dead baiting and game fishing the Shimano Talica has it covered. Each model has a one-piece cold forged (for extreme strength) and machined aluminium frame is treated with a proprietary surface process for cutting-edge corrosion protection. Shimano then added a lightweight cold forged aluminium spool, oversized HEG (High Efficiency Gearing) gears, waterproof carbon drag system and 6 S-ARB bearings for super slick operation.

Features | E.I. Surface Treatment for extreme corrosion protection | Cold-Forged and Machined Aluminium Frame and Spool | Topless Design (no obtrusive crossbar) | Oversized Carbon Drag Washers (Ultra Drag!) | Waterproof Drag (when engaged) | Silent Twin-Pawl Anti-Reverse | Ratcheting Drag Lever | Preset Knot with Clicker | HEG (High Efficiency Gearing |S-ARB Bearings (Shielded ARB Ball Bearings) | Aluminium Rod Clamp | Power Handle.

HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, setplate, and handle-side sideplate. First we increased the size of the drive gear and the pinion gear to offer increased leverage and power. By using a one-piece frame that incorporates the setplate and adding a one-piece stamped sideplate, we have eliminated flex in the drivetrain that causes normal gears to bind under pressure. These bearings have been through the same process as our A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearings rotation.
These spools provide increased strength and durability over diecast aluminum or graphite spools.
After the anodisation process is finished, a second layer of surface treatment is added. This treatment is forced into the remaining surface impurities. This gives salt no hideout and also results in an extremely smooth to-the-touch finish. A reel with E.I. treatment has more than double the corrosion resistance of a standard anodised reel.
Superior aircraft-grade Aluminium material. A6063 aluminium is used for it's increased corrosion resistance and A7075 is used for its extremely low mass resulting in lower start-up inertia.

Shimano New Zealand provides a TEN YEAR WARRANTY on all Shimano fishing reels, against defects in materials and/or faulty workmanship.
